The Diaper Bank of the Ozarks is a nonprofit agency providing diapers and also education about pregnancy and parenting for families in need. Founded in 2012, the Diaper Bank partners with agencies distributing an average of 75,000 each month through Greene Co. and 32 of the poverty-stricken rural counties across the Ozarks. The Diaper Bank also provides education about the care and use of cloth diapers and provides cloth diaper loans saving a family over $2,000 during the time their baby is in diapers. The Diapers for Daycare program allows us to stand beside families who struggle to be able to afford the daily supply of diapers required to keep a child at the daycare. Without this assistance families could loose their employment and income. Newly added this year, the Diaper Bank now has a Period Products Program and has added an educational element focusing on Zone 1 in Springfield with the Baby Hub concept. Classes are offered in safe locations that are in the neighborhoods, decreasing the barrier created with transportation difficulties, and diapers and other baby basics are offered as incentives.
The Diaper Bank of the Ozarks continues to be very volunteer driven complementing the 4 part-time employees and the full-time volunteer executive director. Volunteer opportunities can be one time only for many of our events and fundraisers and ongoing for individual and group opportunities repackaging diapers, data entry and other office duties. Skilled talents such as graphic art, webdesign, advanced knowledge of Excel are always welcomed.
