NAMI Southwest Missouri is a peer support organization providing support, education and advocacy for individuals living with mental illness and their families. We offer a variety of support groups, educational programs, a peer phone support line, social activities, peer specialists and more. All services are free. NAMI SWMO works with individuals and families to help them get connected to the resources they need to help them with their journey with mental illness.

Skills Requested: Warm Line Responders must be able to provide support and empathy towards callers and maintain patience and composure in crisis intervention.Requirements & Commitment: All volunteers are required to have lived experience with mental illness as it is a peer led network . A 4-hour Warm Line training is required and is provided by NAMI SWMO. Volunteers needed for daytime hours - 9:30am-5:00pm.Provide non-judgmental support and recovery based service to callers who use the Warm Line, provide resources and referrals to the best of your ability, and direct suicide/crisis calls to the appropriate crisis hotline or 911.
